The diet

Dietary treatment for acute pancreatitis will start with a total rest for 24 hours. In the next two to three days it is forbidden any oral food that could accentuate the pain.

After 4-5 days, you can go through a half-hour oral diet (300-400 ml a day) consisting of warm medicinal teas, flat water and unsweetened juice from tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, cherries, oranges, lemons and currants, with added (A, D, K) vitamins, vitamins with antioxidant properties (C, E) and B vitamins.

From the moment 7-10 days after triggering the acute painful crisis, a light diet is recommended with vegetable soups, dips, fresh cow cheese, skimmed milk and yoghurt, olive oil pressed cold in salads, egg whites, chicken breast, calf and thin fish, honey, a little bread and biscuits.

The pancreas will be detoxified by an increased consumption of fresh or well-cooked vegetables that have the ability to stimulate pancreatic functions. Recommended: spinach, young nettles, carrot, tomatoes, red beetroot, red cabbage, cauliflower, leek, green beans, cucumber and bitter cucumber – Momordica charantia.

Fruits (cherries, apricots, peaches, apples, pears, plums, quinces, melons, blackcurrants and tomatoes, lemons, oranges, mandarins, white sausages, nuts), fresh or in juices and compotes, empty, in eight-day courses, having a role in draining pancreatic fluid.

Daily menu variant

Breakfast: steamed egg whites, toasted bread, milk with rice without sugar, quince pie;

– 11.00: fresh cow cheese, yoghurt, apple with no peel;

Lunch: Vegetable soup with noodles, Chicken raspberries with puree carrot, salad with red beetroot and tomatoes, fruit cream;

– 17.00: decoction of rosemary with breadcrumbs;

– Dinner: grilled chicken breasts, boiled fish with cooked potatoes, milk with oatmeal without sugar, cow cheese cream.

If there are diabetes problems, the diet will be hypoglycemic and hypolipidic.

It should be known that the pancreas does not bear excessive food in food cooked with animal fats, red meat, game, refined sugar, synthetic juices, carbonated beverages, chocolate and especially alcoholic beverages that intensify abdominal pain and cause serious complications. Even beer is harmful because it can accentuate pancreatitis, leading to the formation of bile calculi.

Vegetables will avoid those that ferment and produce blooms (beans, peas, white cabbage, radishes).
