No one likes a stinky kitchen, but now and then food scraps and grease will make their way into the drain and give off a terrible smell. In this case, check out these easy tricks that can help remove nasty odors!
1. Dish Soap & Hot Water
Dish soap works well against greasy clogs. Try squirting some into the drain and then flush it with boiling water. This simple method might be just enough to clear the nasty smell!
2. Hydrogen Peroxide & Baking Soda
These 2 household staples help dissolve organic matter and disinfect your pipes. Pour boiling water and 1 cup of baking soda down the drain. When the foaming stops, add 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide. Remember to flush everything away with hot water!
3. Salt & Baking Soda
Try pouring 1 cup of salt and 1 cup of baking soda down the drain. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes before flushing it with hot water. It’ll be good for neutralizing the stinky smell by scouring the inside of your drain.
4. Baking Soda & Vinegar
This combination also makes a natural drain cleaner. Run hot water down the drain first, and then pour 1 cup of baking soda and 2 cups of vinegar. Let the solution fizzle for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it with boiling water. You’ll be surprised by the result!
5. Essential Oil & Baking Soda
If you want a refreshing scent in your drain, some essential oil might do the trick. Mix a few drops with 1/2 cup of baking soda, and run the paste down the drain with hot water.
6. Don’t Pour Bleach Down The Drain!
Though bleach is a powerful cleaning product, you should not pour it down your drain. It can react with the substances left in the pipes and even release toxic fumes!
