03 Highly Processed Foods
Ultra-processed foods such as fast food, breakfast cereals, and baked goods are often high in refined grains, added sugars, preservatives and other potentially inflammatory ingredients, all of which can make arthritis symptoms worse.
Studies have shown that a Western diet rich in heavily processed foods may contribute to risk factors such as inflammation and obesity that increase the risk of developing RA.
Additionally, in a study of 56 patients with RA, those who ate high amounts of ultra-processed foods showed increased heart disease risk factors, including higher levels of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), a long-term indicator of glycemic control .
As a result, processed foods may worsen your overall health and increase your risk of other diseases.
